Redirect

Long time no update, and sorry for any comments or questions I missed. I've been setting up a new site to distribute these releases and it's up over here. lifelike.bigcartel.com if the link doesn't work for you. It's a hundred percent easier to post things up than the blog, so I'm gonna discontinue this page for the time being. Most of the older tapes are sold out, but in the days to come I hope to have everything up that I still have copies of, both Life Like stuff and other random releases. Thanks a ton for checking it out!!!

LATE SUMMER 2012

OAK OPENINGS

Life Like 53
OAK OPENINGS C-30
Edition of 30
$5PPD/$8OVERSEAS
Released August, 2012.
Metronomic noise from Thom Elliott of Pleasuredome Tapez and co. Gong sounds, organ drones, clicks, rattles and bells erupting, all very patient and almost stoic, like a spectre watching over your house but not completely in the mood to haunt. A passive ghost? Or a nonplussed demon? A bystanding, preoccupied evil presence!! Definitely a project to watch out for, as they're playing more shows and expanding their sound with every gig. This was recorded at an in-studio session for WCBN and got the Life Like remix/remodel treatment. Jah bless!

MEXICAN KNIVES

Life Like 54
MEXICAN KNIVES C-30
Edition of 50
$5PPD/$8OVERSEAS
Released August 2012.
Newish band led by Zach Weedon (ex-Lee Marvin Computer Arm/Dirtbombs/tion/etc) down a path of bleakness. Detroit howling in a murder ballads broken blood-vessel mode. Heavy heavy minimal rock band somewhere between the Gun Club and select periods of the Liars, but with a more stripped down approach. Four songs, creepy and driving, echoes and tape hiss.

MARY LATTIMORE

Life Like 55
MARY LATTIMORE C-50
Edition of 100
$7PPD/$10 OVERSEAS
Released Sept. 3, 2012
We met Mary when she was playing harp on the Kurt Vile tour two years ago and they came through Detroit. It was a Monday night gig, Swimsuit opening for Real Estate and KV, which seems great, but Lightning Bolt and some other bigger bands were playing down the street, so most people went to that show instead. We had a pretty good time, and one person who did come to our show for some reason was Miley Cyrus. I guess her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus had thrown out the first ball at a Tigers game earlier and she was looking for weed or something? Anyway, Mary rules and this is her first recording of solo harp. Super early morning, up all night feelings, gentle and kind with menace just below the surface, much like Miley.

BOLIVAR

Life Like 56
BOLIVAR "STRONG BONES" C-30
Edition of 50
$7PPD/$10 OVERSEAS
Released Sept, 2012.
Late night warehouse session, me on guitar, Ben Saginaw (Anonymous Touch) on bass, Julian Spradlin (Gardens) on drums and various other folks wandering in and out of the picture. Second it was done Ben proclaims "Harsh surf!" but it feels more like psyched out heatstroke flutter. This concept grew from that night into a project called Bolivar, a band of sorts but one I'm not clear on all the details of just yet. Lots to do with bones, which are factored into the artwork for this tape, the first artwork for the label I didn't do. Intense and ready for the altar, whichever altar you choose.
